Slink Through Strength Studio Code of Conduct

This is an inclusive online space. To keep it welcoming, some behavior will not be tolerated. By signing up for class or the membership you agree to abide by the code of conduct.

  1. No nudity. Keep to at least pasties & bottoms levels of coverage.

  2. Absolutely no sexual harassment of any kind.

  3. No disparaging or derogatory remarks about sex workers.

  4. No disparaging or derogatory remarks towards people based on their gender, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds, religion, ability, caste or age.

  5. Do not comment on other dancer’s bodies, even if well-intended. “Your invert looked super strong today” is fine, “your booty is looking amazing” is not.

  6. Do not put yourself or others at risk of physical harm.

  7. Do not train while inebriated or high.

  8. No spectators (except at studio shows).

  9. Do not record videos or take pictures of other students unless they have explicitly asked you to do so. (You’re free to record yourself.)

  10. Do not share the class recordings.

Offenders will, at the discretion of the instructor, either be removed from class immediately or given a warning for the first infraction and removed on repeated violations. If you have been removed from class for code of conduct violations you will not be allowed to continue to train at Slink Through Strength.

Studio Values

  1. Accessible pole. I truly believe that pole can be for everyone and I do my best to make sure that I always offer movement options for folks with differing levels of abilities and capacity. Need a specific accommodation or have an adaptive need? I’ll work with you to fulfill it to the best of my ability.

  2. Inclusive space. For many folks, especially those who face marginalization along various axes in their lives, pole class is a space of refuge and escape. I take creating and maintaining that space very seriously. All students must agree to the studio code of conduct and failure to abide by it will result in removal from the studio.

  3. Apparatus specific. We’re a pole studio and pole (and floorwork) is all we do.

  4. Evidence-based. As a big ol’ nerd, I strongly believe in seeking out and applying reliable insights from relevant research into my movement teaching. In fact, I’ve got a whole podcast about it!

  5. Sustainable, life-long movement. I’m in this for the long run, for both me & the pole dancers I work with. I’ll never push you to do things that I believe are unsafe or unsustainable, whether that’s overtraining, under-fueling your body or anything else.

  6. Movement as self-care. Pole should help you feel better, both physically and mentally. I want to help you build a pole practice that you look forward to and that compliments your actual life right now.

  7. Bodily autonomy. YOU are the expert on your body and YOU decide what’s right for you. You are not just allowed but encouraged to choose not to explore movements that you don’t feel called to.
